First off, Mich, okaeri!! *hugs* im doing a pretty terrible job of translating the reports, so we’re counting on you ne! XD
Back to the serious stuff… Takki updated Takiren last night and the Orthros no Inu HP has also updated with its first Genba (At the scene) Report, which i’ve done a rough translation of below.
“Wan Wan”
To start off, there must be a lot of people who are wondering what “Orthros” really means. “Orthros” is a two headed dog, a character in a Greek myth. Its name meaning “nimble” and “fly swiftly,” it is said that it was the brother of Cerberus and its mane gradually turned into snakes. (info found by web staff)

Soon, the Friday drama “Orthros no Inu” will start on July 24th (Friday) at 10pm. The official site has occasionally been updated with a variety of interesting contents, information about the cast and their (upcoming) promotion appearances, and news. Furthermore, we hope you will look forward to the Genba Report because we will also be reporting about the filming and other behind-the-scene info.
By the way, “Orthros no Inu.” Recently, there have been postings in the “Fan messages” and it seems like the public is starting to call it by its nickname, “Wan Wan.” (wry laugh) Looking at everyone’s postings, we wondered what “wan wan” was, but apparently, that is what Takizawa-san calls it (laughs).
For this American-styled speed and suspense drama, there are unexpected developments as well as continuous excitement and heart throbs. The contents of the Genba report will (with a serious mode) report about the filming conditions and delightfully use Takizawa’s name “Wan Wan” as the keyword.
Including the period before the drama starts, three months is quite a short amount of time, but we hope you will enjoy this Friday drama “Orthros no Inu.”
it seems like the Orthros staff got their info off of the JP Wiki… LOL well, i got a little curious cause the US Wiki said nothing about snakes, so i did a little research myself. And according to “The Routledge Handbook of Greek Mythology” found on Google books,
“…Chrysaor, the strangely born son of Medusa, mated with the Okeanid Kallirhoe to father a son of his own, Geryoneus… He lived in the outer Ocean in the remote west on the mythical island of Erytheia (‘the Red Island’, a suitable name for a place that lay close to the sunset); and he owned large herds of cattle which were tended by a herdsman called Eurytion, and guarded by the dog Orthos (or Orthros)…
Orthos (or Orthros) was the watchdog of Geryoneus who was finally shot or clubbed to death by Herakles. Although Hesiod says nothing about his appearance, he was evidently no ordinary dog; in artistic images, he is quite often shown with two heads. His brother, Kerberos, the hound of Hades, is often said to have had many more, fifty in Hesiod’s account, or no less than a hundred according to Pindar and some later authors… He usually has a snake for a tail, and may have serpents springing from other parts of his body also.”
Thats a long stretch from Medusa to Orthros… lol but i guess it works XD
bon-chan~ *hugs* thanks for the translation!!! i left a msg at the official HP talking about “wan wan” before i left for japan last week lol~ it seems like many ppl did the same too! XD
bon-chan, thank you for translating. It’s funny they officially adopted that nickname…haha..Takki is really cute ne..
Bon-chan, thanks for this translation and also for the research!
On the matter of Kerberus (or Cerberus) I have also read of his having “only” 3 heads. Well, what’s one head more or less? LOL
