OMGGGGGGG!!!!!!!! IT’S SO TOUCHINGGGGG!!!! *CRIES BUCKETS OF TEARS* I’m re-watching as I type… It’s a really good drama, something worth keeping as DVD!! Even while watching it without subs, I cried and cried…

Storyline, spoilers and screencaps if you read on.

2007 Summer.

Kisaki Masato (Takki) is a construction worker, working hard. Butterfly lands on his scarf… Flashback to 2 months ago… Naoya-kun was rushed to hospital, his mom was beside him. Nao opens his eyes, and asks “otousan wa?” (where’s father?)

“Dad was 17, Mom was 16”

kiminatsu01.jpg

Flashback to the days when Ma-chan (how his wife calls him) and Tokiko (Kyoko Fukada) were young. Riding on his bike, watching fireworks. Then one day she told him she was pregnant. She wanted a ring but he only had his bike and 368 yen lol~ *Ahh~~ Kyokochan still looks so young! She hasn’t changed much since SOS. Takki looks younger too, wearing that colourful t-shirt and orange tracksuit!* Ma-chan bought a cheap ring from a roadside jewellery store.

kiminatsu02.jpg

Ma-chan: (in English) How much?
Seller: (in English) This one is 500 yen.
Ma-chan: (in English) No, DOWN!
Seller: (in English) No no no no no…
Ma-chan: Ok… san byaku roku juu hachi en (368 yen)?

*LOL* Takki speaks English!! This scene is so cute ^_^ And so Tokiko wore the ring and hugged Ma-chan, saying it’s the first present from him. He told her that he bought it from Harajuku. She was obviously very happy, thinking it was expensive! Then they showed really happy scenes of the family, when Nao was young, and after their 2nd song was born *ahh~~ shiawase kind of feeling ne* Ma-chan is a playful Papa!! haha…

kiminatsu03.jpg

But he isn’t a good husband lol~ After work, he plays pachinko at the game center, and smokes LOL~ Tokiko wasn’t happy of coz and they were arguing at the game center when Nao said he was urgent (needed to pee, I think). Then the youngest son was so cute too! He also said he needed to pee~ *pinch pinch* Ma-chan brought Nao-kun to the toilet, while Tokiko brought the other boy to the ladies.

kiminatsu04.jpg

In the Gents. Father and son peed. *LOL* and that was the first sign of Nao’s illness. My Japanese isn’t good but I think Nao said that his urine was red in color. Ma-chan laughed and said that urine is yellow.

kiminatsu05.jpg

At home, playful (and smoking) Papa doesn’t help with housework, instead he wanted to play with his sons. Tokiko threw the laundry onto him ^_^

kiminatsu06.jpg

It was then that Nao started feeling pain in his chest and collapsed at Ma-chan’s feet. They took him to hospital, and the doctor told Tokiko that he had to undergo an operation . The operation was successful but they found that Nao had a kind of cancer which affects only 1 in 100,000 (Sarcoma). Ma-chan was furious at the doctor (who was played by the actor who played T&T’s teacher in Mokuyou no Kaidan. He also acted as the eldest Heike son in Yoshitsune ^_^).

kiminatsu08.jpg

“Why Nao?” Ma-chan doesn’t want to face it, and said he’s going to play pachinko *whacks* Bad husband *whacks* *pats Tokiko* Tokiko asks Nao to ganbare, I think she asks him to go for chemotherapy. He agrees and said ganbaru. Nao goes for treatment. Tokiko leaves the youngest son at childcare, and that’s when she commented that she had 3 sons!!! Bwahahahaha… Ma-chan was “busy with work” and has set up his own company, I think. Meanwhile, Nao has dreams of catching butterflies in a forest… He starts losing hair. Ma-chan sells off his bike. When he finally visits Nao at the hospital, he was shocked to see that his son has lost most of his hair.

kiminatsu09.jpg

Raining. Nao was very happy coz raining is a time when his father need not work and thus can visit him.

kiminatsu10.jpg

Nao has made friends with a girl with heart condition, Riko-chan, at the hospital. Both kids play a joke on Ma-chan, pretending that Riko-chan is dead. Then there’s a scene where “NaoPapa” tried to wear a cap for his son. Takki flashed his trademark dimple ^_^

kiminatsu11.jpg

2006 Spring.

Ma-chan’s father visits his grandson at the hospital. He gave Ma-chan Nao’s admission card to junior school. Nao apparently wants to go to school. Some scenes are cute eg. when Naoya-kun on wheelchair kept trying to wheel himself away from his mom and teacher lol~ Then Nao is discharged from hospital. He attends school and all his classmates were very nice to him. Nao loves insects and butterflies. At school, he has many friends and is leaving a normal life. At home, Ma-chan says he has an off-day and decides to bring his son out.

kiminatsu13.jpg

He made a promise to his son to bring him camping and to catch butterflies, something like that. Sorry my japanese is no good so I might be wrong lol~

kiminatsu12.jpg

Then, Nao’s condition worsens. Tokiko calls Ma-chan from hospital and asks him for help… Nao undergoes more treatment. At the hospital, Nao was in pain. Ma-chan and Tokiko looks on while the doctor and nurses tried to insert some tube into his mouth. Ma-chan couldn’t take the sight and left the room… Ma-chan went to the game center to play pachinko. But he wasn’t really playing but thinking of what Nao told him in the toilet back then. Then he flared up at his friends and ran out into the rain. But though it was raining, he did not visit Nao. Nao was sad… Nao and Riko-chan played the “Riko-chan is dead” game again, this time on a nurse.

kiminatsu14.jpg

At night, Riko-chan and Nao covered their backs with a blanket and flapped their wings, as though they both were a butterfly. Tokiko and Riko-chan’s mother looked on secretly. Back at home, Ma-chan started smoking again. Tokiko questioned him, and told him that Nao wanted to meet him. Tokiko said that Ma-chan is using his work as an excuse to run away from reality. Nao is so young but he’s working very hard. She breaks down and said this is not the way husband and wife should be, that Nao’s father is Ma-chan and Nao loves his father alot.

kiminatsu15.jpg

Then, Riko-chan died. Nao cut out a butterfly for her and he cries at the corridor. Ma-chan comforts him.

kiminatsu16.jpg

Riko’s mom said that Riko was happy at the end as she had Nao to play with her. That night, Ma-chan told Nao that Riko’s mom thanked him. He slept on the hospital bed with Nao.

kiminatsu17.jpg

Nao teaches his brother the names of butterflies (this part was so cute! The little boy was just repeating the words *pinch both boys*). The nurse that took his temperature is acted by the deaf actress (she’s really sugoi too, although she only appeared twice in the whole drama). Nao’s condition worsens. The doctor talks to Ma-chan and Tokiko again. Nao continues dreaming of catching butterflies.

Ma-chan seemed to have come to terms with things. Tokiko was very happy to see him mature and not escaping reality. Although it wasn’t raining, he visited Nao.

kiminatsu18.jpg

He asks Nao to do another operation… and he agreed.

kiminatsu19.jpg

Although the operation was successful, the doctor told Ma-chan (something bad – sorry I don’t know what) about Nao’s bone marrow. It was very bad news but Ma-chan kept it from Tokiko. Tokiko thinks that her son’s condition has improved. Ma-chan decides to carry out his promise to his son.

kiminatsu20.jpg

Nao had a relapse, and Tokiko rushed him to the hospital. Ma-chan rushed to the hospital from his work place (his colleagues called out “Kisaki” *sorry, I still can’t get his name right* but it sounded like “Takki!” haha) Sorry, back to the story. It was then that Tokiko found out the truth from the doctor *cries* Ma-chan thinks back on his role as a father etc, and decides that he will bring his son out the next day.

kiminatsu21.jpg

Tokiko begs the doctor to let Nao be with his dad for one day.

kiminatsu22.jpg

Ma-chan brings the boy to the forest to catch butterflies. Nao taught his dad the many different names of butterflies. They witnessed the birth of one from a cocoon too. “This is my last summer holiday with Nao” At night, father and son were sitting by the campfire. Nao said he wants to know the truth *cries* Ma-chan told him about the bone marrow. OMG~ Ma-chan was already slightly teary-eyed then.

kiminatsu23.jpg

Nao said softly “arigatou, otousan…” and that he’s actually very scared… Awww, father and son hugged *cries*

kiminatsu24.jpg

More father and son exchange which just tears me inside. They have such great chemistry ne… Ma-chan was fighting back his tears. He couldn’t continue his sentence.. “dakara… dakara…” then he turns away from his son to face the fire instead.

kiminatsu25.jpg

Nao said he still wants to be with his father and mother (I think). But this sentence from his son hit him hard: “I want to live longer”. OMG those eyes!!!! LOOK AT THOSE EYES!!! AHHH~~~*BAWLS* Takki, don’t kill me like this!!!

kiminatsu28.jpg

Ma-chan couldn’t take it anymore… he excused himself *cries* then runs away to behind the bushes (I think Nao knows what’s going on too…), where the lake is… and cried uncontrollably there. There’s nothing he can do to save his son T_T

kiminatsu29.jpg

From then on, I was just sobbing and sobbing… Nao’s last moments at the hospital was very touching too. Ma-chan rushed to the hospital and when he lightly stroked his son’s hair and calls him, awwww~~~ my heart broke *sobs*

kiminatsu30.jpg

They were with him to the end *cries again* Nao even did a very weak peace sign, and kept saying ‘ganbare’ to the end… He’s such a strong boy!! Such a good and sensible boy!!

“Arigato, Nao. Arigato.”

Back to present. Tokiko with youngest son finds Ma-chan at his construction site. The youngest son started reading words off a book, handwritten by his older brother. Ma-chan finally told Tokiko the truth about the ring ^_^. He then said that he’s happy to have married her, happy that they had Nao *I was still sobbing then although it was a happy scene – baka mich*

kiminatsu32.jpg

He carried their little son onto his shoulders and they walked happily down the lane (ne, this part really reminds me of S.O.S.’s ending somehow hehehe)… A butterfly lands on a leaf in the foreground… *and mich is still sobbing during this scene lol*

kiminatsu33.jpg

T.H.E. E.N.D.

Please pardon any mistakes I might have made since my japanese is bad, especially my listening :S

But ne, this is definitely one of my favourite dramas!!! It’s really touching for me… and the acting is so good!!! Takki’s first role as father~ he did so well! *PACHI PACHI*~ The campfire scene was really really moving *sobs*… I keep thinking of those watery-eyes *sobs* And Kyokochan – I love her so much! She’s such a good wife and mother, and she is soooo pretty!!!! And the boy, the boy was good too… The chemistry between father and son was sugoi!!!!! Sigh… what a cruel thing to happen to a young and sensible boy *sobs* I hope the subs for this will come out soon. I want to fully understand the story…

Thanks so much also for posting the complete clips 24 Hour TV. I hope you don’t mind if you know any torrent link for the 24 Hour TV SP Drama? I can’t download MU links and clubbox as well. Torrent is my only hope. Once again, thanks for sharing the TxT love! :)

  9. hi maan, there is a torrent link for this SP Drama in d-addicts. or try a search for ‘kimi ga kureta natsu’ in your torrent program’s search function ^_^

  10. Thanks Michelle! I actually searched for it so many times in d-addicts. I just don’t know why nothing popped out or I was overly excited that I missed it. XD

Thanks again! I’ll try my darndest best to look for it! :)

  11. thanks, ho!takky! once the subs are out, i think i’ll post them here (if they’re softsubs), or direct ppl to the hardsubs. if i’m not wrong, i think d-fansubs announced last month that they’ll be subbing this. so.. sigh, i just hope they do it soon!!!

dithers~ i think a panda is prettier than me yo xD

  12. eh? i dunno, i think it might be reflecting the percentage of households in japan who were watching? these ratings are most likely calculated by independent media research companies (like ac nielson?). erm, i returned most of it to my teacher already hahahaa, but vaguely, i remember that there are many ways to calculate, including distributing boxsets to random households, etc. so whatever channels are turned on (and must be turned on for at least 15 mins to be counted?) will be sent back to the research companies. ratings doesn’t mean everything coz the tv might be turned on but nobody’s watching, or, 20 people watching from the same tv, etc… but can be used as a gauge of how popular a program is.

anyway, based on takki’s previous dramas, this one is very high. i think the highest one is still majo no jouken (29?), and yoshitsune was abt 20. i remember R&J was 11.3, and satoken was in the 16-17 range.

  13. Hi Michelle, SUBPIG already released Chinese subs for this wonderful drama (I’m a sucker for sad dramas unfortunately) and I’ll be uploading the series onto Sendspace/Megaupload for a couple of friends, so I’ll post the links to you when it’s done, if you’re interested in those while waiting for English subs. :)

And thanks for the caps, Takki STILL looks youthful, though (in reference to your comment that Kyoko Fukada has hardly changed since SOS :D)!

  14. lol~ i JUST saw the subs at subpig too!! before i logged in here~~ ah, so excited!!! definitely watching chinese subs first.. coz i need to totally understand it.. hehe… thanks, eyannis!

  15. ……….. T_T ……………..
    so cute *sobs* I had to read your report at the same time as I was watching to understand. ….. The little boy… so young… ;_;
Thank you so much for the raw and for the report!

  16. miron~ ne, my report is not very accurate ne, after watching the chinese subs then i fully understand everything. it’s more meaningful than what i thought T___T

  17. I already watched the chinese subs… Really touching… I love tackey… and love to see him with kyoko… I think they’re a perfect match…
