I’m a little late, but for the countdown, I am doing rough translations of Denpajou shows that have aired since the beginning of 2010. Decided to skip some shows because the guest chats would’ve taken too long to translate word-for-word. But I will be translating the most interesting parts from the opening talks, Shin Takiteo and Danwashitsu Takizawawa (談話室・滝沢話). First up is a translation of Denpajou from January 9th. Yoroshiku~

[OPENING]

「Good evening, this is Takizawa Denpajou’s Takizawa Hideaki! Well then, with that said, this has actually become something from last year (something that started at the end of 2009), but previously, I bought lottery tickets while I was recording this show. There was the end-of-the-year lottery and I think I said something like “wouldn’t it be nice to have a little fun with everyone?” And in fact, the results are out and I did purchase tickets, but we’re in the middle of a butai right now, so I haven’t seen what the results are.

When I talked to the staff about it, they said “Eh, well then, what are you going to do with the 300,000,000 yen?” and I thought “You guys sure have a lot of guts to ask me that…” Hehehe~ I was shocked because they didn’t even really participate in it (or pay for any of the tickets). But I will look at the results soon and I really did buy tickets! Not as much as 10 tickets, but enough to think I’ll probably will win something. I would like to tell everyone the results when I see it. However, if I do win the 300,000,000 yen jackpot, I probably wouldn’t say anything. I’d probably continue doing the show like nothing had ever happened. I think it’d be nice if people could just tell from that that “Ah, Takizawa must’ve won.”」

The car behind me had the same license plate number that I have.

Tono :
That is sugoi! I too occasionally get calls from my friends saying “You just drove by, didn’t you!” and I’d say “No, I didn’t. I’m on set right now.” “But that was your car!” And apparently, the license plate numbers were the same as mine. You certainly do feel a sense of “fate” when that happens, huh?

Listener :
The other day, at the local takeout yakitori restaurant, I bought several skewers of yakitori. As I waited for my order, the next customer who came in ordered the exact same kind and amount of yakitori that I had just ordered. Out of all the different varieties of yakitori that they had… it surprised me that he ordered the exact same thing! By the way, I ordered 2 skewers of tsukune (chicken meatloaf made with eggs), 4 skewers of chicken skin, and 2 skewers of liver. In the restaurant, there are also various kinds of dishes like negima (chicken and spring onions) and tataki (seared and thinly sliced meat). Isn’t that sugoi?

Tono :
I see~ Certainly, at yakitori places, I usually order things along the lines of chicken cartilage and negima. But tsukune, skin, and liver are usually not the main things that people order at yakitori restaurants. So for him to order the same things in the same amount… But isn’t it like… When you go to a restaurant, you can hear whatever the person next to you orders, right? But there are times when I want to eat the same thing and I get frustrated from feeling like I can’t order it (because the person next to me had just ordered it too). No? No? That doesn’t happen to you too? Kinda like, for example, when I want to eat hitokuchi steak (bite sized pieces of steak) and the person next to me orders it, at that moment, I’d think “He copied me” and I’ll change my order.

Listener :
I woke up earlier than I was supposed to. For three days, whenever I looked at the clock, it was always 3:29.

Tono :
That happens to me too! I wasn’t sleeping, but occasionally whenever I look at the clock, it’s always at a certain time and there are times when it would happen every day. I see~ for this girl, it’s always 3:29, which is actually the number of my birthday. But for me, whenever I see that it’s 3:29, I kinda get high-spirited (excited).

Tono, good evening. The other day, I took my pet dog to the Izu Onsen (hot springs in Izu). For the first time, my dog got car sick and it was terrible. Have Tono’s dogs Hidezo and Hidepita ever gotten car sick?

Tono :
They haven’t. Un~ I don’t like it. I dont like it when my dogs (are so uncomfortable that they) go ubababababa~ Speaking of which, I haven’t seen them at all recently. They haven’t taken rides in my car either. But yes, I would like to seem them.

Listener :
I work at a convenience store and something interesting happened. When I was restocking the oven with niku-man (steamed pork buns), a customer came to the register and said “Please give me a pizza-man.” I knew in my head that he wanted a pizza-man (bun with pizza-favored filling), but I accidentally said “Nikuman.” When the customer said “No no, a pizza-man” I once again said “Nikuman.” Tono, has such a thing ever happened to you, where you knew that it was one thing, but you accidentally said something else?

Tono :
I see. Doesn’t that happen to people very often? With things like people’s names, right? Like you’ve been calling someone by their name, but suddenly, you accidentally call them something else. Or when you call your teacher “Mom.” It happens, even to me. Even now, there are times when I’ll say to our company’s president, Johnny-san, “Ne~ Ne~ Sensei~” and occasionally, Johnny-san will look at me and say “Koichi!”

Listener :
Recently, I’ve been doing some online shopping. And the other day, I bought a set of mandarin oranges – three boxes of three different kinds. When they arrived, a portion of one of the boxes had mold growing inside of it. When I contacted them via email, they immediately sent another box of the same thing to me. But then, they sent me another box the next day. When I emailed them about it, they said “Because of our mistake, we’ve doubled the order. If you do not mind, please (accept and) enjoy it.” I was a little surprised, but it was really delicious.

Tono :
Net shopping is difficult, isn’t it? I occasionally shop online too. Actually, recently, I thought about buying a jersey and when I tried looking online, I found one and thought “Ah~ they have some nice sweats here” and bought them. But as I had expected, the size was different and it looked different from the image that they had showed online. But I thought that it was a pain to have to go out of my way to return the item, so I still haven’t returned it yet. I haven’t worn it yet either.
