In short, this trip was really girigiri~ but it was worth it in the end. I’m glad I made it there.

After the earthquake/tsunami struck Japan on 11 Mar, every morning I woke up thinking if I should proceed with the trip or not… and we couldn’t come to a decision until 30 Mar. And 31 Mar happened to be my last day of work. It was a girigiri handover session which ended close to 7pm. Of course, I had to reach the airport at 6am the next morning.
Life was pretty much normal in Tokyo. After a while, we didn’t really care about the food or water… and the un-lit signboards of restaurants and combinis didn’t bother us. We felt it most at the start when the elevators & escalators at train stations were stopped to conserve energy, and we had to carry our luggages up and down the stairs.
The biggest difference of course were the two major earthquakes that struck during this short 11-day trip. Coming from a country with at most slight tremors when earthquakes strike our neighboring countries, it was quite scary.
On 7 Apr, I was sitting on the hotel bed using my macbook when the earthquake struck. There was an alert on the TV, and in a few seconds, the room started to shake, mild at first, then it became more vigorous. My macbook was placed on a mini glass table attached to a light stand, so I was afraid the entire structure would topple. I was holding onto it and preparing to run if it got worse. It lasted for about a minute, and there was a creaking sound with every shake from the walls or ceiling (not sure)… It happened at about 11.30pm, so after that it was hard to go to bed. I also felt that the place was still shaking (when it wasn’t).
Then just now (11 Apr), while we were heading for the boarding gate at Narita Airport, there was another earthquake! The huge signboards that give directions to the gates were swaying left & right violently. And at that moment, we really didn’t know what to do or where to go. Fortunately, it stopped after about 20s. The runway was closed for about 10mins. But we took off fine and arrived in Singapore only 5 mins behind schedule.
Tomorrow (actually today, as it’s already past 3am LOL) is my only “rest day”, as I’ll be starting a new job on Wednesday. A new beginning, a new journey ~ é ‘å¼µã‚‰ãªãゃï¼
Sigh, I really wish I can have more time!!! I want to do so many things – finish Kakumei Act 2 report (but I’m already starting to forget most of it, except for “Boku no Kakera”), write Kabuki report while it’s still fresh in my mind, scan the mags that I brought back, write about the trip… But hmm… I haven’t even wrote about the 3 trips last year and the one earlier this year LOL! Oh, I haven’t even posted my ROM photos on FB *cries* And I know there are incomplete fansubs, and files which I owe a few friends. Not trying to find excuses, but tonikaku, ganbarimasu!
I should get some sleep now, and try to do as much as I can later ne. Hope the zzz monster doesn’t take me away for too long lol…Â 11 days passed so quickly… It’s great to be back, but I really miss Tono.
